I am drawn to the construction materials used in most "white cube" galleries—specifically concrete floors and drywall walls—because I want to create a camouflage effect. It functions as theatrical set design while simultaneously engaging with materials from the real world. This aspect of the works relates to the frustration of wanting to be a genuine space for habitation—using tools designed for precisely that purpose—yet ultimately failing to achieve it.
